Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB)

Association for Environment Conscious Building

The AECB Story

The AECB is run by its members and is an independent, not-for-profit organisation. It was founded in 1989 and by 2000 had reached a membership of over 1000. In 2023, the AECB's membership stood at over 2,000.

AECB's mission is to inspire, develop and share sustainable building practice. The AECB vision is a world in which everyone in the building industry contributes positively to human and planetary health.

Their boldest success to date has been the creation of the Passivhaus Trust: a wholly owned subsidiary, with over 250 members.

AECB works by harnessing practical pioneering examples that inspire a radically faster uptake of effective thinking, tools and methods. With these in place, they guide, support and develop sustainable building practice. AECB brings people together from many disciplines and trades, and is guided by clear thinking and robust evidence.

AECB promotes integrated and holistic thinking; learning from their members and sharing expertise. They set, then raise standards, and stimulate innovation.
